This afternoon, a number of employees who retired during the current school year or plan to retire this month attended a meeting of the Tulare County Board of Education where they were congratulated on their years of service to TCOE.

This year, a total of 38 teachers, administrators, and support staff retired with 822 years of service to Tulare County students and school districts.

Woodlake High School students and educators

Woodlake High School students Guillermo Rosales, Jose Tadeo, and Luis Jimenez all played a part in helping save Manuel Garcia's life -- a student in the school’s AcCEL program -- before an ambulance arrived. They, along with teacher Stephanie Hayes, instructional aides Raquel Marquez and Alberto Montemayor, and WHS assistant principal Victor De La Cruz, all jumped into action to assist Manuel.

At one point, the boys helped to stand Manuel up so that the Heimlich Maneuver could be performed. 

AcCEL staff presented the boys with a goodie basket to say thank you. They were also recognized for the Pillar of Citizenship by CHARACTER COUNTS!
